Fred's father, Daniel Duggan, died
at age 24, eight months before Fred Lawrence Dugan was born. Either Daniel
or his father, Absalom I. Duggan, dropped a "g" from the family
name. Fred's mother, Lillie Belle Ingram Dugan, remarried in 1881 to John
M. Sanders, a cousin and close friend of Daniel Duggan and was raised in the
Sanders household.
